The Cornerstone Terms and Conditions

Bookings and Deposits
We are pleased to take reservations for guest rooms either using our secure online booking service, by email, by phone or in writing.
Payment can be made with a valid debit or credit card.   
Cheques and cash are also accepted. Rates are per room, per night and include breakfast.
We reserve the right to decline 1 night bookings in peak periods. Peak periods are June to September and January inclusive plus Bank Holiday weekends.

Cancellations
The Cornerstone B&B is a small business of only 5 rooms and cancellations affect us substantially.  Should you wish to cancel your booking, please do so as soon as possible by phone or email.  Where a cancellation is made 14 days or more before arrival, the deposit will be retained.  Cancellations made less than 14 days before arrival will be charged 20% of the total accommodation cost, unless the room(s) can be reallocated beforehand. If you cancel your booking less than 7 days from the due date of arrival or fail to arrive at The Cornerstone, the full accommodation cost will be due. We recommend guests ensure they have valid travel insurance in case of need to cancel their booking.   

Single Occupancy of a double room
Single Occupancy is the special rate given to a double room at a discounted rate of (£65.00 per room per night) and is for the use of the double room by one adult, if the terms and conditions of this special rate is exploited (e.g. a single occupancy booking and two adults sharing, this will constitute a double room rate/s and the discount rate will be null and void and the full rate will be charged £80.00 per room per night will be charged.)

Non-availability
We would only cancel your booking if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would attempt to offer you alternative accommodation, however if this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Arrival & Departure
Our usual check-in times are between 14:00 and 17:00.  If you wish to arrive before 14:00, please get in contact, as your room might already be available. Please contact us in advance if you anticipate arriving after 17:00. Check-out is by 11:00

Guest Register
We are required by law to maintain a register of our guests.  Residents of the United Kingdom and European Union shall on check-in provide full names and addresses.  By law all other guests must at check-in produce a valid passport.

Damages & Breakages
You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages which you cause to the accommodation or its contents Please report these as soon as they occur especially if you accidentally spill something – it’s much easier to clean if we know what it is and act quickly. We do not normally charge for breakages, but we reserve the right to charge for repair or making good if the damage is significant (Damage includes soiling or wetting the bed, linen and or mattress both will be charged at cost of replacement/s).

There will be a charge of £20.00 for lost keys

Children
We are happy to welcome accompanied(by an adult) children of all ages

Parking  
Car parking is available on a local car park opposite the cornerstone (on what’s called the Burn Beach).  Cars and contents are parked entirely at the car owner’s risk.

Smoking
For the comfort and safety of all guests and to comply with the UK law banning smoking in public places, the cornerstone is strictly no smoking. Sensitive smoke detectors are installed every guest room and also on the stairs and landing and will detect cigarette smoke. In the event that smoking is detected in a guest room or stairs/landing a cleaning levy of £150 will apply.

Liability
We shall not be liable for any loss, damage, expense, accident, injury, illness or inconvenience whether to person or property which you or any other person may suffer or sustain arising out of or in respect of the letting or your stay.

Cleaning
During your stay your room will be cleaned on a daily basis, toiletries and towels changed as necessary which means we will need to access your room sometime between 11.00 and 14.00 If you do not wish for us to do this, please let us know.

The Cornerstone follows this policy on towels in your room:
 
Every day millions of gallons of water and tons of laundry detergent are used to wash towels that have only been used once.

You Make The Difference:
A towel hanging up means “I will use this towel again”
A towel in the shower tray means “Please exchange”

Lost Property
We are happy to return items that have been left following departure. However, there will be a minimum charge of £5.00 to cover postage and packaging.

Room/s Allocation
All double rooms including the sea view rooms are allocated on the day of check-in, on a first come first served basis.

Missing Items
We reserve the right to charge for missing items.
